January 29, 2014. Existing problems of beauty salons and bakery businesses and their solutions

29.01.2014.The round table discussion on the topic of “Main problems in the business of beauty salons and bakery and possible solutions” was held in the framework of Micro Enterprises Support Project. It was organized by Center for Support to Economic Initiatives, Center for Economic Research and Entrepreneurship Development Foundation. The event took place in the conference room of the National Confederation for Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan Republic. Representatives of various think-tanks, business associations, local and international organizations as well as local entrepreneurs participated in the event. Among the guests were also representatives of International Financial Cooperation.

First, guests and organizers of the event were greeted by Natavan Mammadova, Confederation’s  Secretary General. She talked about importance of the dialogue between entrepreneurs, think tanks and non-governmental organizations, mentioning that main role of these structures is to provide support to entrepreneurs and represent their interests. She also noted that Confederation is pleased to provide their help in this work.

Then Sabit Bagirov, president of Entrepreneurship Development Foundation gave small overview about MESP project, what are main objectives, what have been done so far, what is planned etc.

Later representative of Center for Support to Economic Initiatives Rovshan Agayev gave presentation on topic of “Beauty Salon Businesses: main problems and possible solutions”. The presentation was based on survey results, deep interviews and desk research. 

Event proceeded by presentation of Economic Research Center representative Rajab Imanov. He talked about state of business in the bakery industry. In his speech he presented major problems in the industry and also findings from the focus group discussions and survey results conducted among the industry owners.

Event was finalized Q&A session where guests shared their views about findings, talked about problems they encounter and ways they deal with them.

Suggestions were documented and will be included to the recommendations that will be sent to Government of Azerbaijan.
